1977, AND AFTER CONVERSION TRAINING ON HELICOPTERS, WAS ASSIGNED TO
443 HELICOPTER ANTI-SUB SQN IN SHEARWATER, NS WHERE
HE SERVED FOR
FOUR YEARS ONBOARD A VARIETY OF HMC SHIPS. AFTER
LEAVING SHEARWATER,
BGEN MARTIN UNDERTOOK POST-GRADUATE TRAINING AT THE UNIV
OF
PRIOR TO RETURNING TO RMC AS AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN THE
DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT. HE WAS THEN SELECTED TO
ATTEND THE 2 YR
COMPLETION HE WAS POSTED BACK TO SHEARWATER FOR A TOUR WITH 423
HELICOPTER ANTI-SUBMARINE SQN WHICH INCLUDED A
DEPLOYMENT ON HMCS
ATHABASKAN DURING THE 1990/1991 PERSIAN GULF WAR AS
THE DET COMD. HE
LATER SERVED 2 YEARS AS DET CO WITH 406 MARITIME
OPERATIONAL
TRAINING SQN IN SHEARWATER AND THEN ONE YR AT
MARITIME AIR GROUP HQ
IN HALIFAX AS THE ROTARY WING MARITIME AIR STANDARDS TEAM LEADER.
BGEN MARTIN WAS PROMOTED TO LCOL IN 1995 AND
APPOINTED STAFF OFFICER
TO THE CDS. IN 1997 HE RETURNED TO SHEARWATER TO TAKE COMMAND OF 423
MARITIME HELICOPTER SQN. THE FOLLOWING YEAR HE WAS
PROMOTED TO
AND POSTED BACK TO
OPERATIONAL READINESS PROGRAM AND THEN SERVED AS THE EA TO THE CDS.
IN 2002 BGEN MARTIN ATTENDED THE
2004 BGEN MARTIN WAS PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK AND APPOINTED TO
THE AIR STAFF AS DIRECTOR GENERAL AIR FORCE DEVELOPMENT. IN 2006 HE
WAS APPOINTED ASSISTANT COS AND IN FEB 07 HE ASSUMED HIS PRESENT
POSITION AS CEO CFPSA.
3. THE FAREWELL LUNCHEON WILL START AT 1145 AND WILL BE PRECEDED BY
